Hakkasan is one of the most recognizable names for Las Vegas night life. In fact it may well be on its way to being the most dominant player in today’s nightlife scene. Coming off a red hot inaugural 2014 season, this club has been making waves and is right now the #1 club in the US as ranked by DJ Mag. This past Friday was no different as Hakkasan lived up to its name and grand reputation. The headliner was the EDM King, himself, Tiesto.
The crowd that gathered outside of Hakkasan gave an undefined type of electricity and feel of energy. Once you walk into this fortress of EDM you have a couple of choices to either head straight up to the elaborate and amazing main room. The other option would be to stop by and check out Ling Ling, in itself a massive space below the main stage that fuels the crowd’s attitude while also giving many partiers a place to dance and groove all night to a mainly hip-hop scene.
The crowd began to get antsy around 12:30 am when Tiesto still hadn’t hit the decks. The suspense added to momentum when the electronic DJ and producing legend finally appeared. The Tiesto emblem above the stage shown bright and the overall production value was finely tweaked for Tiesto and was extremely impressive. Tiesto, who came on around 1am kept the audience engaged by throwing in well-known hits, such as “Red Lights” and a thumping remix of “Flight 643”. The lights on the main flood drew on the crowd’s excitement and Tiesto took advantage of the build up with a drop that filled the room. His experience and knowledge was exemplified through his music, and his selection of tunes kept the crowd dancing and jumping to every beat throughout the night.
