Event Review Benny Benassi at Ruby Skye Friday Oct 3rd

This coming week for Ruby Skye is shaping up to be something special. The next 7 days we will see 3 EDM legends in their own right walk through the doors and step up onto the decks. Starting off with Benny Benassi, then Erick Morrillo, and followed by Tiesto.

Tickets are still available for the Morrillo show today (HERE) as well as the Tiesto show on Thursday (HERE). Expect the event on Thursday to sell out as Ruby Skye will most likely hit “maximal crazy” / capacity with a little over 900 spread about over 15,000 square feet of the city’s prime party real estate of Ruby Skye.

Last night however started this legendary weekend with a bang as Benny Benassi kept the Friday night party going until the wee hours of the morning. To say the least it was Satisfaction at its best. Coming onto the decks at midnight the at capacity crowd became electrified. There was an energy and exuberance that created a terrific atmosphere thanks in part due to the Giants 3-2 playoff win over the Washington Nationals and also to the amazing weather we have been having (80 degrees at night = unheard of in San Francisco).

Benassi has remained in the top echelon of DJs for over a decade now ever since his breakout club record ‘Satisfaction’ hit the airwaves in the summer of 2003. His consistency is unrivaled and he certainly knows how to warm up a crowd and get them dancing whether it be in an intimate club like Ruby Skye or a massive 100,000 person event with EDC in Las Vegas.

Over the years Benassi has evolved his music from house to electro including collaborations with some of the biggest hip hop artists including Chris Brown, T-Pain, and Madonna. His relevance in today’s music world is unquestioned.

At almost 47 years young, Benassi still knows how to party and that was on showcase last night in San Francisco.

Some highlights of the night included a few remixes and even some classics. Towards the end of the night Benassi got down and dirty and dropped the ‘Satisfaction’ remix by the LA producer and wunderkid, RL Grime. Other tracks that were notables during the set included Benassi’s ‘Dance the Pain Away’ feat. John Legend, ‘Let This Last Forever’ feat. Gary Go, ‘Blink Again’ (Original Mix) with John Dahlback, ‘Gangsta’ (Original Mix) with Moguai, and that is just to name a few.

It was a great night, and an amazing start to a blockbuster week at Ruby Skye with Erick Morrillo and the one and only Tiesto waiting in the wings. For more info on the music and tracks mentioned here, please check out Benassi’s Beatport page HERE, and for upcoming tour dates your can go HERE.
