Calvin Harris

Omnia 9/4/15

Labor Day weekend can mean many things to many people. For most, good ole fashion Americans it means a rooting tooting fun time being outside – enjoying what is left of summer with friends and families plus a few cold ones, well stocked fridge, and an on point grill.

That’s the image most people have of Labor Day. But for the very select few this past Friday at the start of this great American holiday – Labor Day meant something very different. It meant a time where people broke their normal routine and entered a world in and of itself – brand new, amazing, and most of all fun.

The setting was Omnia Nightclub housed in the Cesar’s complex along the world famous as well as also the infamous Vegas strip. For the next 72 hours Sin City is at its peak of bustle and hustle. Labor Day weekend, what can you say.

Calvin Harris. Sure he’s dating pop icon megasuperstar Taylor Swift. Sure he’s gracing the covers and billboards in whitie tighties as Emporio Armani frontman. Celeb, sex icon, international star – those are all coined terms that can be thrown at Calvin Harris. Yet time and again the one thing that stays consistent and helps Calvin retain his status in this crazy media driven world, is his music. One hit after another. You know the story. The biggest name on the strip right now is Calvin Harris.

So back to last Friday. Omnia. Calvin Harris. The outside of the club looked like a madhouse. The lines stretched out the door and party goers were trying their hardest to dress and impress and most importantly try to get into the club. Yes you had to wait for a while. Maybe even an hour or so. Didn’t matter if you had a table, new someone, or just bought a ticket. You were in the same boat. Eventually though you were able to make it in and oh was it worth it.

Calvin got on a little after 2am and played for the next 2 hours. His hits. a couple of IDs. Some hip hop. His set had everything. The production value of Omnia nightclub just added to the allure of his music. Perhaps the most striking highlight of the night took place when Harris dropped his most recent single alongside the Disciples – How Deep is Your Love. Awesome song.

By far the busiest I have ever seen Omnia, but good reason for that. Calvin Harris. Catch more shows at Omnia HERE and for more Calvin Harris tunes check out his Beatport page HERE.
