Tiesto at Hakkasan Saturday August 16th – Show Review
There are a number of Hakkasans all over the world from Miami to San Francisco to London. Yet there is only Hakkasan that is a world class nightclub. A little over a year ago, Las Vegas and the MGM Grand welcomed Hakkasan. For the past 12 plus months Hakkasan has built a reputation as the place to be seen, party, and have a time of your life in Las Vegas, which is quite a feat considering the competition. The club itself reminds one of a fortress with it’s towering cube-like appearance. It is difficult to imagine what it looks like on the inside from standing on the outside. Though once you ride the elevator or for those more fitness inclined by walking up a few stories of stairs – which may or may not be Vegas buffet induced – you are in for a special treat.
The amazing venue and surroundings of Hakkasan help to make this nightclub the #10 nightclub in the world as rated by DJ Mag. The other half of the equation lies in the actual music, beats, and pumping atmosphere that is brought only by the top DJs in the world.
It would be fair to say that Tiesto literally owns Hakkasan. Just last week he played on Thursday as well as on Saturday to a sold out crowd and this week is no different with back to back shows. No one bring the crowds like this man and week after week he is doing it over and over again, most likely at Hakkasan, which Tiesto would consider as a second home, if not first.
Coming off the heels of playing to a sold out crowd at Outside Lands in San Francisco, Tiesto did not disappoint at Hakkasan. The set that he plays at festivals versus clubs is definitely different, but in a good way. Clubs are generally smaller and more intimate. Hakkasan is big as in 3,000 attendees big. Yet the club as well as the atmosphere brought by Tiesto make it feel so much smaller, which is difficult to describe, but it makes for a very special place.
Tiesto played his usual classics including Love Comes Again feat. BT; 2 Move To The Rhythm (Original Mix) Tiesto, Nari & Milani; People Of The Night feat. Lover Lover (Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman Remix) Tiesto, Max Vangeli, and AN21; Red Lights; Wasted, among others as well as some harder records as in a hardstyle tracks, The Opposites – Licht Uit (Coone Remix) and Showtek ft Noisecontrollers – Get loose (Tiesto remix). The reason why Tiesto has stayed on the top for so long is that he does well to adjust his style and taste. It is ever evolving and always changing, which is also another reason why you have to see Tiesto live – it is always a different show.
When you get a chance and you are in Vegas, do yourself a favor and catch Tiesto at Hakkasan. Wet Republic, Hakkasan’s sister property, is also a great day venue and fantastic pool party. For schedules to Hakkasan see HERE and to Wet Republic please see HERE.
