The Chainsmokers

The Chainsmokers

Hakkasan 1/2/16 – Selfie..yes everyone does them. Unfortunately it is a trend that shows no signs of slowing down. Vain, cliche, material, narcissistic, however you want to call it, it something that is part of our society. How did this whole craze get started? Where did it come from? Who started it?

Well one could argue that it just happened and on the other side of the story it may have come up from a pop culture phenomenon started by the Chainsmokers.

The Chainsmokers are of course the New York duo that have been blazing the charts for EDM for the past couple of years. They got started by the famous and also infamous title single track, Selfie. Whatever you want to call it, Selfie started a career for these two guys and at first you may have thought they were one hit wonders, but after single after single all that talk has gone away.

Celebrating 1/2 of the duo’s birthday, Drew, The Chainsmokers brought the energy and excitement as I have never seen it in Vegas at Hakkkasan. Sure it was after NYE and many were partied out, but these two guys really did bring the heat. They were jumping up and down from the decks as if there were a stair-master. Singing, screaming, and revving the crowd up. Some highlight tracks included a few unreleashed remix’s of their friend Justin Bieber as well as the usual suspects of Roses with Tritonal, Split (Only U) with Tiesto, Kayne, and Waterbed.

These guys really have a unique sound and my bet is 2016 will be there year. Watch out. For more The Chainsmokers tracks check out their Beatport HERE and for more Hakkasan dates go HERE.
